MKVToolNix v5.0.1 released

Hey,

I’ve released mkvtoolnix v5.0.1. It’s a release with a few improvements/bug fixes and one important fix for a regression introduced in v5.0.0 regarding PGS subtitles.

There were no changes that concern package maintainers.

All of the binaries that I provide myself are already available.

when i tried to upgrade i got this error:

as a workaround i ran `sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/doc/mkvtoolnix/guide/en/images/` and reran apt-get upgrade and all went well, but perhaps there is a better solution?

  No need for such an option. Simply use “–no-attachments” for each input file.

Hi,

How to Extrack Attachment in Linux?
I can extract audio,video,and subtitle.

But i fail to extract Attachment.

  Run “mkvmerge –identify yourfile.mkv”. It will tell you which ID to use with each attachment. Example:
  
  File ‘v.mkv’: container: Matroska
  Track ID 1: video (V_MS/VFW/FOURCC, DIV3)
  Track ID 2: audio (A_MPEG/L3)
  Attachment ID 1: type ‘text/plain’, size 1274 bytes, file name ‘vde.srt’
  
  This “ID 1” is the one you need for mkvextract.

Hi guys I have a quick question. I frequently add English subtitles to mkv files and I have to click each stream every time and set Video, Audio and Subtitle tracks as eng (English. I also set the default track flag for all three track to Yes. This is quite tedius when I have to process many files. Is there a way to automate this so all tracks are auomatically set as English and default-flaged as Yes? Thanks in advance for any replies!

  I second that, and also I’d like to ask if it’s possible to set the default framerate for H.264. Currently it’s 25 FPS, but I’d like to have an option to change it to 23.976 (for example).

    No. And I won’t add such an option. I have proper support for extracting the frame rate stored in the h264 headers on my TODO list. No time frame for it, though.

Gibt es einen Tip wie ich mit mkvmerge zusammengestellet mkv`s an einem DB-Player von Toshiba zum laufen bekomme? Das forced Subtitles weder an meinem Samsung TV noch an dem BD`s Player laufen damit habe ich mich abgefunden. Ich hab auch verstanden das ich Header Kompremierenung für den Samsung TV auschalten muss, aber warum mein Toshiba BD diese mkv`s nicht abspielen will, bleibt mir ein Rätsel. Mit anderen Tools funktioniert das abspielen auf dem Toshiba BD – Player nur mit mkvmerge nicht.Über ne Info würde ich mich freuen.

  Versuch’s mal mit dem Modus für, wie ich sie nenne, echt-unvollständige-Matroska-Implementierungen, aka der Option “–engage no_simpleblocks”. Wenn das nicht hilft hab ich keine weiteren Ideen.

    layer. Mir fehlt da leider da know-how bie mkv`s.

Mosu, it would be great to have an option where as soon as a file is opened via mkvmerge – or when new streams are added – all video/audio/sub tracks are automatically set to a language of the user’s choice and default-flaged as Yes? If users have to precess many files which are all of the same language, such a feature would save them having to click and set each individual stream for every single file. Thanks!

  I assume you mean mmg and not mkvmerge. Anyway, I’m not in the mood for a lot of GUI programming at the moment, so the answer is a solid “maybe in the future”. I’m not dismissing the idea outright, but I’m also skeptical about the number of people for which such a feature would be useful. A lot of the time people add files with multiple streams, or multiple tracks in parallel, and it’s not often that they all should have their default flag turned on and they’re all in the same language — e.g. three audio tracks in “ger” for a single output file.

Thank you so much for this great tool, it really works great and saves me a lot of time.
However I have a problem when I try to wrap mpg files recorded from DVB-T TV tuner (in PS mode) in mkv container (I use mmg).
No matter which media player I use, the mkv file seems to have a length that is a few hundred times bigger than its real one.
For example, a 5 minutes mpg produces an mkv that appears to have more than 5 hours duration. So there is no way to move accurately in the clip, using the slider in the timeline of any player.
Any other format I’ve tried, works perfectly.
Do you have any idea why this is happening?
Sorry to bother you, I’ve been searching the internet for a couple of days now, but didn’t come up with anything useful…

      …and of course now I’m uploading the original mpg “Original – Correct lenght” (as recorded with a DVB-T tv tuner dongle in PS mode), which is probably what you asked for in the first place, but I missunderstood, sorry…

        Hello again,
        Yes, with your last revision the lenght of the clip is displayed correctly.
        However, I’m sorry to report a new problem. After wrapping DVB-T mpg into mkv, although audio and video start in sync, as the playback goes on the video speeds up increasingly (audio speed seems to remain constant).
        For example, in the clip that I’ve uploaded before, the video finishes about 12 seconds earlier that the audio.
        I’m sure you’ll fix that eventually but anyhow, thank you again for all your work.

First, thank you for the wonderful tools that have helped me for years now. I just wanted to know if there are any plans in the future to see a GUI for mkvpropedit?

After extensive searching I’ve not found a solution to deal with multiple files at a time and most people think you have to remux to even do a single file. I just think that an accessible tag editor for Matroska is needed badly and would benefit the format. Either way I’m thankful for mkvpropedit and will continue using it.

  As GUI programming is something I absolutely dislike I don’t think I’ll write a GUI for mkvpropedit any time soon. Sorry.

    Understood, thanks anyway. Maybe someone else will pick up the framework you created and run with it. If I was talented enough I wouldn’t hesitate. Maybe I’ll try my hand at an interactive script instead.
